winemaker's notes:
Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2007!
The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon has been Chappellet's flagship wine for more than three decades. It is a benchmark for the long-lived hillside wines of the Napa Valley: full of structure and aging potential, yet seductively forward in its concentrated varietal character. The dry, rocky soils of Pritchard Hill produce small, intensely flavorful grapes. Crop thinning allows for full, even ripening and elevates flavor complexity
Opening with intense, dark fruit aromas of blackberry, cherry and cassis, this wine is full-bodied and rich. Notes of cola, chocolate and espresso layer nicely with fresh herbs and spicy oak, adding depth and complexity. Smooth tannins coated with sweet fruit create a lush, supple texture, adding structure and finesse. Rich waves of berries, spice and herbs carry through on the palate, leaving a long and lasting impression on the finish.
"A supple, graceful style that serves up a complex mix of cherry, currant, herb and plum-scented fruit, picking up a light toasty oak and mocha note midpalate and finishing with a long, lingering aftertaste and round tannins. Drink now through 2013."
